The Koskikeskus shopping centre in Tampere is expanding its service offering. Tampereen Jäätelöliike Oy will open a new ice cream bar on the second floor of the shopping centre in August.
“We will have the most extensive flavour selection in Finland with nearly a hundred different ice cream flavours”, says the ice cream company's Sales Manager, Perttu Mäkelä.
Other novelties offered by the ice cream bar will include melted chocolate in various flavours, ice cream doughnuts, croissants with different fillings and cinnamon rolls.
“In the near future, we intend to expand the Minetti Ice Cream Bar concept to major shopping centres all over Finland”, states Antti Helminen, the man behind the Minetti concept.
Strongly anchored in the history of Tampere, the Minetti brand has made a recent return to the streets of Tampere after decades of absence, as Tampereen Jäätelöliike Osakeyhtiö opened ice cream stands in the Ratina district and Mustalahti harbour in May. The stands offer a wide selection of ice cream products under the Minetti trade name.
Mari Laaksonen, the manager of Koskikeskus and Commercial Director of Citycon Oyj, welcomes the new ice cream bar.
“This is an extremely positive development for the Koskikeskus. The Minetti Ice Cream Bar will expand our service offering even further. The café is located in a highly accessible and visible spot. It is also nice to get more local actors involved in the Koskikeskus. This creates significant added value”, Laaksonen comments.
The kiosks and café of Tampereen Jäätelöliike Oy sell Minetti Jäätelö products – a trade name that is firmly rooted in the commercial and industrial history of Tampere. The Italian musician Giuseppe Minetti settled in Ratina, Tampere in 1909 and started manufacturing ice cream according to the best Italian traditions in the 1920s. Members of the Minetti family are still involved in the operations of Tampereen Jäätelöliike Osakeyhtiö.
At present, Minetti ice creams are manufactured in Italy to the company's own recipes. Tampereen Jäätelöliike will start its own ice cream production in early 2014 as its new production facilities are completed, and a factory outlet will be opened in the new premises.
